School Toilets Maintenance - Sanitary Worker Salaries Rc 1519. Guidelines for Maintenance of School Toilets in Government Schools. Rc No 1519/Toilet Maintenance/2016-2017 Dated 22.8.2017. Govt has sanctioned The Government Finance (FMU-Educarion.) Department through reference  GO 1081 Dated 26.4.2017, have issued Budget Release Order from BE provision 2017-18 towards maintenance of School Toilets in Government Schools in the State under SSA under the Head of account 2202-01-001-06-05-310-312. Govt has sanctioned Rs 2000 for Primary, Rs 2500 for Upper Primary, Rs 4000 for High Schools per month for maintenance of Toilets in Government Schools - Sanitary Workers Salary.

  1. The Government Finance (FMU-Educarion.) Department through reference  GO 1081 Dated 26.4.2017, have issued Budget Release Order from BE provision 2017-18 towards maintenance of School Toilets in Government Schools in the State under SSA under the Head of account 2202-01-001-06-05-310-312.
  2. In pursuance of the Budget Release Order by the Finance (FMLI-Ean) Department, the Principal Secretary to the Government. School Education Department through reference GO 75 Dated 2.5.2017 cited have accorded administrative sanction to the Commissioner of School Education, A.P Amaravati for from BE prevision 2017-18 towards maintenance of School Toilets in Government Schools in the State under SSA under the Head of account 2202-01-001-05-05-310-312.

Guidelines for Maintenance of School Toilets in Government Schools

  • The concerned Head Master is responsible for monitoring the cleanliness of toilet in the school even though toilets are being maintained by SERP employees/ 
  • Employees through MGNREGS funds /Employees provided by PSUs, etc., Head Masters shall maintain attendance for sanitary worker and ensure that the toilets are cleaned daily. 
  • The sanitary worker should be under the control of the concerned Head Master. 
  • Payment should be made based on the certificate of the concerned Head Master regarding attendance and satisfactory performance of the Sanitary worker outsourced by the SERP.. 
  • The Sanitary worker shall be responsible for cleaning both girls and boys toilets in their respective schools. 
  • In respect of exclusive Girls schools, only Female sanitary worker should be engaged. 
  • The bucket, mug and consumeables like Broomstick, Bleaching powder, etc are required for cleaning the toilet. The bucket and mug are durable and have to be replenished when ever required by the Organizations which are maintaining the toilets. 
  • The cleaning materials shall be procured by the concerned SERP authorities and other Organizations concerned and shall ensure proper stocking and issue of the materials. 
  • The MEG should cover all the schools in their respective jurisdiction atleast once in a month and confirm that the toilets are maintained cleanly and satisfactorily. The Project Officer should conduct a review meeting with school Head Masters every month on the cleanliness of school toilets and shall submit a report on the maintenance of toilets in the Government Schools. 
  • The Project Officers shall release the amounts only when the toilets are maintained satisfactorily by the SERP and the Project Officers shall inspect the government Schools in the State.
In view of instructions of Government vide reference 2nd cited, it is hereby decided to entrust the maintenance of all toilets in Government schools to SERP.
  1. The Project Officers of SSA are requested to entrust the maintenance of School toilets work to the SERP if not already done at the rates of riot exceeding an amount of Rs. 2.000 per month per Primary School, Rs 2,500 per month per Upper Primary School and Rs. 4,000 per month per High Schools under Government sector in the State towards toilets maintenance including materials duly verifying and excluding AP Model Schools, KGB' Schools, Residential. Schools, the schools where forest department has undertaken nurseries and the Schools where toilets were being maintained directly by the PSUs / Corporate Sectors.
