Providing Meals to Disaster affected People from MDM Kitchens

Rc.No. ESE02-2702/100/2018-MDM -CSE Date:14-12-2018 Sub: School Education - Mid-Day Meal Scheme - Relief arrangements during disaster times, it will be the responsibility of the School Education Department - Instructions issued - Regarding. As a part of relief arrangements during disaster times, it will be the responsibility of . the School Education Department to provide good quality hot cooked meal to the disaster affected people from the school MDM kitchens. 

Providing Meals to Disaster affected People from MDM Kitchens 

  1. All the District Educational Officers in the State are informed that as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) the low-pressure area has strengthened into a depression early this morning. It is located over the South-East Bay of Bengal and expected to intensify further into a deep depression by tonight and into a cyclone by tomorrow evening. It would move north-west towards the Andhra Pradesh during the subsequent three days. Met has said that rains would lash most places of Coastal Andhra Pradesh with heavy to very heavy falls expected at isolated places from Saturday. The wind speeds would be' much stronger suggesting severe cyclonic strength. 
  2. As directed by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra. Pradesh there is a dire and immediate need to take pre-cautionary measures for the safety of the people especially school children. As a part of relief arrangements during disaster times, it will be the responsibility of . the School Education Department to provide good quality hot cooked meal to the disaster affected people from the school MDM kitchens. 
Therefore, all the . District Educational Officers, especially Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari are requested to take following measures immediately:
  • 1. Issue necessary instructions to the field level officials to gear up to tackle the cyclone, which is expected to hit the region anytime. 
  • 2. Ensure that adequate stocks of required material such as food grains, groceries, vegetables, condiments, eggs etc. are made available in schools for ready relief. 
  • 3. The children of the school shall also be provided meals three times a day. 
  • 4. Ensure that the MDM cooks and Cooking Agencies are informed of the situation and attend the work without uncertainty.
  • 5. Ensure that the buffer stock of rice is maintained. If rice is not sufficient, then adjust from nearby schools or other sources like Fair price Shops. 
  • 6. Monitor the quality of meals being provided and take immediate measures for providing qualitative and quantitative meal is provided. 
  • 7. Daily meal supply details Mandal-wise and school-wise shall be collected and submitted to the District Collector. 
  • 8. Be in touch with District Collectors and any untoward incidents or short supply of food grains shall be brought to the notice of the District Collectors and also pursue for immediate action. 
  • 9. Ensure that the field officers would be attentive in all the cyclone-prone areas till the situation gets normalised. 
  • 10. Ensure that the children are aware of areas, where water has receded and school buildings are in dilapidated condition.
