Rc.No.03/E2 /2018 Dated:16-08-2018 It is hereby notified that the State Level National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme Examination for class VIII will be conducted on 04-11-2018 (Sunday) from 10.00 AM to 01.00 PM in Telugu, Hindi, Urdu and English medium at all Revenue Divisional Head Quarters of 13 Districts in the State. The due dates may be downloaded from the web site "www.bseap.org". The applications will be received through online procedure.

Note:
  • This examination is conducted every year in the month of November for the students in class VIII studying inGovernment/ Local Body/Municipal/Aided Schools are eligible for this examination.
  • The candidates who got minimum 55% of marks for OC/BC candidates and 50% for SC/ST in VII Standard.
  • The beneficiaries are being selected basing on the merit and as per the reservation norms followed by the state.
  • State Norms including 3% reservation for P.H candidates. (S.C 15%; S.T 6%; B.C-A 7%; B.C-B 10%; B.C-C 1%; B.C-D 7% ; BC-E 4%).
I) ELIGIBILITY: A candidate who has/ is
  • (i) Scored at least 55% of marks in case of OC/BC and 50% of marks in case of SC/ ST/ PH or equivalent grade i.e., B+ for all categories in class VII Examination studied during the year 2017-18. 
  • (ii) Studying in Government, Local Body (ZP/Municipal), Government aided, AP Model (day scholars only) and MPUP (Running 8th class) schools only. 
  • (iii) Whose parental annual income (both Parents put together) is below Rs.1,50,000/- from all sources for which candidates have to produce latest original Annual Income Certificate issued by the MRO, in case of Private employee and certificate issued by the employer in case of Government employee. 
  • The students who are studying VIII class in A.P.Residential High Schools, A.P. Social Welfare Residential Schools, A.P.Tribal Welfare Residential High Schools, Government Ashram High Schools and Kasturba Residential Schools, Students studying in AP Model schools with residential facility are not eligible, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas and in Private unaided Schools are not eligible to appear for NMMS Examination. 
  • (iv) Candidate has to submit the original caste certificate (issued by the MRO) to the Headmaster and also to submit the Original VII class Pass Memo of Marks to the Headmaster. 
  • II) Examination fee is Rs.100/- for OC and BC students 86 Rs. 50/- for SC, ST and PH students. The examination fee has to be paid through SBI Collect only (follow user guide available in website www.bseap.org).

SCHEME OF NMMS EXAMINATION

Under this scheme, 100,000 scholarships are awarded to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- per annum from all sources. Each State /UT have fixed quota of scholarship as given at Annexure of concerned age group of class VII and VIII. The scheme would provide reservation to different categories of students as per the State/UT norms;
  • 1.2 These scholarships will be provided on yearly basis to the students studying as regular students in class IX in a Government, Government-aided and local body schools which will be renewed for classes X, XI and XII. Thus the scholarships will be for a maximum period of four years. 
  • 1.3 The amount of scholarship will be Rs. 12000/- per annum @ Rs. 1000 per month. 
  • 1.4 A separate examination shall be conducted by the State Governments/UT Administrations for selection of students for the award of the National Means­ cum-Merit Scholarships in the States/UTs.
Procedure for Selection of Awardee Students:
Each State/UT will conduct its own test for selection of students for the award of the Means-cum-Merit Scholarship. The State Level Examination may consist of the following two tests.

2.1 Each State/UT will conduct its own test for selection of students for the award of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship. The State Level Examination may consist of the following two tests:
  • (i) Mental Ability Test (MAT) 
  • (ii) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) 
  • 2.2 The students shall have minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent grade in Class VII examination for appearing in selection test for award of scholarship (relax able by 5% for SC/ST students). The students should be studying as regular student in a Government, Government-aided and local body schools. 
  • 2.3 Mental Ability Test may consist of 90 multiple-choice questions testing verbal and non-verbal meta-cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. The questions in the test may be on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure etc. 
  • 2.4 Scholastic Aptitude Test may consist of 90 multiple-choice questions covering subjects namely, science, social studies and mathematics as taught in classes VII and VIII. 
Duration of the Test
Each test will be of 90 minutes duration. Children with disability will be given extra time, as applicable.Previous Questions Papers:
