PM YASASVI 2023: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India has formulated a scheme known as PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (YASASVI) for award of scholarships to eligible candidates belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC) and De-Notified, Nomadic & Semi Nomadic Tribes(DNT/S-NT) categories, (the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs) studying in Class IX and Class XI in identified Top Schools across India.

YASASVI ENTRANCE TEST (YET) - 2023 is an Examination for selection of eligible candidates for award of scholarships under the YASASVI Scheme.. Selection of candidates for the award of scholarships under the scheme is through a written test called YASASVI ENTRANCE TEST, and the NTA has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the same.

The NTA will be conducting the YASASVI ENTRANCE TEST-2023 as per details given below

“PM YOUNG ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD SCHEME FOR VIBRANT INDIA FOR OBCs AND OTHERS (PM –YASASVI)” is an umbrella Scheme for OBCs, EBCs and DNTs. It is a Central Sector Scheme for providing Top Class School Education to OBCs/EBCs & DNTs. 

The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India conducts an exam for selection of candidates for award of the scholarships. It has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the YASASVI ENTRANCE TEST-2023 to NTA. 

 YET 2023 YASASVI Entrance Test 2023 Overview

The YET_2023 will be conducted for award of scholarships to OBC, EBC and DNT candidates studying in Class 9 and Class 11 in identified Top Schools

The award of scholarships is at two levels:  
  • For candidates who are in Class IX
  • For candidates who are in Class XI

  Purpose Exam for selection of candidates belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT categories, studying in Class IX and Class XI for award of scholarship for studying in Top Schools identified by the MSJ&E.

PM YASASVI 2023 Scholarship Eligibility Rules

  • The eligibility requirements for appearing in the exam are as under:
  • Applicants should be Indian Nationals
  • They should be belonging to OBC or EBC or DNT category.
  • They should be studying in identified Top Class Schools. The list of such Schools is hosted on the website https://yet.nta.ac.in
  • They should have passed Class 8 or Class 10 (as the case may be) in 2022-23.
  • The annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources should not be more than Rs. 2.5 lacs.
  • Candidate applying for Class 9 Exam should have been born between 01.04.2007 to 31.03.2011 (both days inclusive).
  • Candidate applying for Class 11 Exam should have been born between 01.04.2005 to 31.03.2009 (both days inclusive).
  • Both boys and girls are eligible to apply. Eligibility requirements for girls are the same as for boys.

Doubts YASASVI 2023 Overview about the Exam

Question 1: What is Yasasvi Entrance Test (YET) for?
Answer : YASASVI ENTRANCE TEST (YET) is for selection of eligible candidates for award of scholarship to candidates studying in Class IX and Class XI in identified Schools under the YASASVI Scheme.

Question 2: What is the type of the test?
Answer : The test is an Objective type test comprising Multiple Choice Questions. Each question will have 4 possible answer options. Candidate will be required to mark any one of the options that he/she considers as the correct or the most appropriate answer.

Question 3: What is the mode of conducting the test?
Answer : The test will be conducted in Paper Pen Mode (OMR). The test comprises Multiple Choice questions.

Question 4: Who are all eligible to apply for YET 2023?
Answer : 
  • Applicants should be Indian Nationals.
  • Candidate should belong to OBC or EBC or DNT category.

Question 9: Will the exam for Class IX and Class XI be held in the same session and same time?
Answer : Yes. Exam for both Class IX and Class XI will be held in the same session and same date. Candidates will have to ensure that they answer the question paper meant for them, as indicated on their Admit Card.

Question 10: In which cities will the exam be held?

Question: How to apply?

Question 14: Is there any exam fee?

Question 16: What are the documents that are to be uploaded while applying?
Answer : An applicant has to upload the following documents:

Question 17: I do not have my Category/Income Certificate right now. I have applied for the same. It may take some time to get them. Meanwhile, the last date for submission of form for this exam may expire. How do I apply?

Answer : In case you are not able to upload the Category or Income Certificate while applying, you may upload an undertaking in the format given in the Annexure VI / Annexure VII of the Information Bulletin. You will be required to furnish the original documents later at the time of document verification

Question 18: What precautions should I take regarding eligibility?
Answer : It is the responsibility of the candidates to go through the Information Bulletin carefully and ensure that they are eligible to apply for the exam.

Question 19: When is the form deemed to be complete?
Answer : Application will be deemed to be complete only when the candidates had filled in all the required fields and also uploaded the required documents and also generated the Confirmation Page.

If the candidate has not uploaded the required documents and has not generated the Confirmation Page, the application will not be considered as having been submitted and hence no Admit Card to such candidate will be issued.
Candidate has to ensure that he generates and prints the Confirmation Page.

Question 20: Do I need to send Confirmation Page to NTA?
Answer : The Candidates are NOT required to send/submit the Confirmation Page of Online Application Form (or any document) to the NTA. However, they are advised to retain the following documents with them for any future reference/correspondence:
Copy of the Confirmation Page of Online Application Form (Download, save and Print at least 3 copies)
Photographs (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form)

Question 21: If I have made any mistake(s) while registering/applying, can I make changes later in the Application Form?
Answer : Once you have submitted the form, details provided in the Application Form cannot be edited/changed.

However, NTA shall open the “Correction Window” as per the schedule and Correction in particulars of Application Form can be incorporated on the website only during “Correction Window“.

No corrections shall be allowed after the closure of correction window and all particulars entered by the candidate would be considered as final.

Question 22: I carried out corrections and submitted. After submission, I found that still there is some more correction to be done. Can I do so?

Answer : After submission of corrections, you cannot reopen the application and add more corrections. Please check the corrections before submission.

Question 23: What should candidate do, when ‘continuous timeout’, ‘Server Error’ or ‘file not found error’ occurs while making correction in Application Form?
Answer : Use updated version of Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer and good internet connection while filling application form. In case of continuous time out, one can clear cookies and history of the browser and fill during off-peak hours

Question 24: I am not able to verify my email ID. What should I do?
Answer : It is possible that there could be an error in the Email ID provided in the application form. Correct it and try again.

Question 25: I have forgotten my application number / password. How do I get it?
Answer : You can find your application number and/or reset password by clicking on link given at home page at https://yet.nta.ac.in

However, you can check your mail box. Your application form has been communicated to you by way of a mail..

Question 26: What is the role of NTA?
Answer : Role of NTA is confined to registration of candidates, issue of Admit Cards, conduct of exam, finalise answer keys after challenge, process and declare results, host Score Cards and finalise and display Merit List. NTA has no role to play in the award of scholarships.

Admit Card and Conduct of exam related

Question 27: How do I get my Admit Card?
Answer : The Admit Card will be uploaded on NTA website https://yet.nta.ac.in as per the schedule communicated through the website.

Candidates need to check the Admit Card carefully for all particulars e.g. Roll No, Name, Medium, Date of Birth, Gender, Examination Centre Name, City, Category, etc. No physical Admit Cards will be sent by post.

Question 28: If I do not get my Admit Card, whom should I contact? Or Whom can I contact in case my Admit Card has some issue, or I am not able to download my Admit Card?

Question 29: Where can I get the name of exam centres?
Answer : The name of the exam centre of each candidate is indicated on his/her respective Admit Card. Please check your Admit Card.

Question 30: Can I change my exam city after receiving Admit Card?
Answer : No, you will not be allowed to change your exam city once Admit Card has been issued.

While applying candidates have to select any four cities of their choice. The efforts will be made to allot city of examination to the candidates in order of the choice opted by them in their application form. Please select your preferred choices carefully.

However, NTA reserves the right to change the city based on the feasibility.

The Examination City Centre, once opted, shall not be changed.

Question 31: Am I required to affix my photograph on the Admit Card?
Answer : You are required to affix your photograph and left hand thumb impression at the foot of the Declaration and also get the signature of your parent affixed at the space provided, before reaching the centre. You will be required to sign on the Admit Card in the presence of the Invigilator at the exam centre.

About the Conduct of the Exam

Question 32: What is the reporting time at the exam centre?
Answer : Please check your Admit Card that will be hosted on https://yet.nta.ac.in

Question 33: What is the latest time for entry into the exam centre?
Answer : Please check your Admit Card that will be hosted on https://yet.nta.ac.in

Question 34: Can I leave the test hall, if I complete the test before time?
Answer : No. You cannot leave the test hall until the test concludes and the invigilator allows you to go.

Question 35: What are the items which are permitted inside the test hall?
Answer : You are permitted to carry the following items to the test centre:
Admit card downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
A simple transparent Blue/Black Ball Point Pen.
02 Additional passport size photographs, to be pasted on the Admit Card and Attendance Sheet.
Personal transparent water bottle Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic
Valid and original Photo ID proof

Question 36: What precaution should I take while carrying documents?
Answer : The name on the photo identification must match with the name as shown on the Admit Card.

If the name has been changed, candidate must show the relevant document like Legal Name Change Document at the time of examination

Question 37: Should I carry some blank sheets to the exam centre for doing rough work?

Answer : No. You can do the rough work in the space provided in the test booklet.

Question 38: Should I carry a calculator?
Answer : No. You are not allowed to carry calculators to the exam hall.

Question 39: Do I have to surrender the Admit Card to the invigilator at the exam centre?

Answer : Yes. You are required to handover the Admit Card to the Invigilator in the exam hall, after the conclusion of the exam.

Question 40: Am I required to carry a photograph to affix on the attendance register?
Answer :Yes. You are required to affix your photograph on the attendance sheet, at the designated space.

Question 41: If I commit an error in writing my roll number on my OMR answer sheet, what should I do? How do I correct it?
Answer : You should be careful while filling the details on your OMR answer sheet. In case you commit an error in writing the details, inform the invigilator in the room immediately. However, the OMR answer sheet will not be replaced.

Question 42: Can I take the question paper booklet with me, after the exam?
Answer : Yes

Question 43: Can I take the OMR answer sheet with me after the conclusion of the exam?
Answer : No. You are required to handover your OMR answer sheet to the invigilator after the conclusion of the exam, before leaving.

YASASVI 2023 POST EXAM MATTERS

Question 44: Will there be negative marking for wrong answers?
Answer : No. There would be no negative marking for a wrong answer.

Question 45: Will I get an opportunity to view my responses, the questions and the answers? Will I get an opportunity to challenge the answers, in case I feel that the answer to any question is incorrect, in my opinion?

Answer : After the conduct of test, the scanned OMR answer sheets of candidates will be made available on the NTA website. Exact date of display of scanned images of OMR Answer Sheets, would be communicated after the examination on NTA website.

Candidates will be able to view their respective OMR answer sheet and in case they want to make any representation against the OMR grading, they can do so free of cost.

After exam, experts shall verify the answer keys for the question paper administered.

NTA will display the Questions and Provisional Answer Keys on the NTA website, on a date communicated to candidates through NTA website and public notice/press release in advance.

Candidates, who are not satisfied with the answer key, may challenge by filling online application form through the given window free of cost. Applications received by hand or by fax or email will not be considered.

Experts test the challenges received, and if needed key is revised.

The result will be compiled on the basis of final answer keys.

No grievance with regard to answer key(s) after declaration of result will be entertained. The NTA’s decision on the challenges shall be final and no further communication will be entertained.

Candidates are advised to remain in touch with the NTA website www.nta.ac.in or https://yet.nta.nic.in for the exact dates and other updates.

Question 46: How will I come to know the final answer keys based on which the results are ultimately processed

Answer : Final answer keys based on which the results are processed, will be hosted on the NTA website before results.

Question 47: What is the evaluation methodology?
Answer : Responses will be processed based on the answer keys verified and finalised.
There will be no negative marking for wrong answer.

NTA shall address discrepancies if any in the following Manner:
If more than one option are found to be correct, post challenge or during key verification - Marks will be awarded to only those candidates who have attempted any one of the correct options.
If none of the options is correct/Question is found to be wrong – All students who appeared in the exam would be awarded full marks.

Question 48: When will results be declared?
Answer : Results will be processed and the score card will be hosted on NTA website. Be in touch with the NTA website for updates.

Question 49: What is the qualifying criteria?

Answer : Candidate should have acquired minimum 35% marks in the written test to qualify for scholarship under the Scheme. However, the number of scholarships to be disbursed will be based on merit and available slot for the same. Qualified Candidates are required to apply through the National Scholarship Portal.

Question 50: Can I apply for re-checking my answers, after results?
Answer : No

Question 51: Will there be a Merit List also?
Answer : NTA will prepare a State wise Merit List and host on its website https://yet.nta.ac.in

MISCELLANEOUS YASASVI 2023

Question 52: I am a PwD candidate, eligible for a scribe. What relaxations am I entitled to?
Answer : PwD candidates with benchmark disabilities are eligible for compensatory time (Extra time) at the rate of 20 minutes for each hour of exam. In other words, in this exam, PwD candidates with benchmark disabilities will be eligible for 1 hour extra time. 

They are also eligible for a scribe if they have a limitation to write the exam and upload a certificate to that effect from the prescribed Medical Authority. Candidates are required to indicate their status and whether they need a scribe or not in their application form while applying.

NTA will provide a scribe. Candidates are not allowed to bring their own scribe.

How to APPLY Online for YET 2023 YASASVI 2023 Scholarship

Steps to be followed to Apply Online:
  • Step-1: Register for Online submission of form using your own Email ID and date of birth and note down system generated Application Number.
  • Step-2: Complete the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application Number.
Candidates have to apply for YET-2023 “Online” ONLY by accessing the website: https://yet.nta.ac.in

After successful completion of Step-2, Confirmation Page of the Application Form, should be downloaded and a printout of the same may be retained for future reference.

It is suggested that the candidate should keep the following ready before filling of the online Application Form:
  • o A computer with proper internet connectivity;
  • o The particulars of a valid Government ID proof;
  • o The Date of Birth;
  • o Govt. Identity Details - i.e. Aadhaar / UID Number is compulsory.
  • o Educational / Qualification details;
  • o Scanned clear passport photograph in JPG/JPEG format (size between 10 kb–200 kb) either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background;
  • o Scanned clear signature in JPG/JPEG format (size between 4 kb–30 kb);
  • o Scanned copies of the category certificate, income certificate, Aadhar card and PwD certificate, if applicable. (size 50 kbs to 300 kbs);
  • o A valid e-mail ID as important communications will be made in this e-mail ID;
  • o A valid mobile number as important information via SMS will be sent to this number.
  • o A child desirous of availing the benefit under the Scheme shall be required to furnish proof of possession of Aadhar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication.
  • o Any child desirous of availing the benefit under the Scheme who does not possess the Aadhar Number or has not yet enrolled for Aadhar shall be required to make application for Aadhar enrolment subject to the consent of his parents/guardian, before registering for the Scheme provided he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhar as per Section 3 of The Aadhar (targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and services) Act, 2016 and such children shall visit any Aadhar enrolment centre (list available at Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website : www.uidai.gov.in to get enrolled for Aadhar.
