Government is hereby decided to declare Half-a-day schools for classes I to IX w.e.f 18.03.2024 up to the last working day of the academic year 2023-24 i.e., 23.04.2024 with timings 7.45 am to 12.30 pm in all management schools including Government, Zilla Parishad, Municipal, Aided, Private Recognized unaided schools in the State.

    In continuation and in partial modification of the orders issued vide the reference 2nd read above, it is clarified that, Schools where SSC examination centers are constituted should observe Half day school by conducing classes during the afternoon session i.e., from 01.00 PM to 05.00 PM. 

    In case of the schools where both SSC examination and AP Open School examination centers are constituted, Compensatory classes has to be conducted on the Public Holidays during the period from 18.03.2024 to 23.04.2024, excluding religious festivals / National Holidays like Holi (25.03.2024), Good Friday (29.03.2024), Ester (31.03.2024), Ugadi (09.04.2024), Ramzan (11.04.2024), Ambedkar Jayanthi (14.04.2024) and Sriramanavami (17.04.2024).

    All the District Educational Officers in the State are directed to take further necessary action for implementation of these instructions.

    Sub: School Education – School Academic Calendar 2023-24 – Half Day Schools W.E.F 18.03.2024 to all Management Schools in the State During the Academic Year 2023-24 – Orders – Issued - Reg

    In pursuant to the instructions issued in the reference 1st read above, Government is hereby decided to declare Half-a-day schools for classes I to IX w.e.f 18.03.2024 up to the last working day of the academic year 2023-24 i.e., 23.04.2024 with timings 7.45 am to 12.30 pm in all management schools including Government, Zilla Parishad, Municipal, Aided, Private Recognized unaided schools in the State.

    Further, in the schools where there are SSC examination centers, there shall not be any classes on the days of examination (Seven days in total). 

    These schools shall conduct compensatory classes for Seven days on the available public holidays during the period from 18.03.2024 to 23.04.2024 mandatorily on the sunday and Second Saturday i.e., 24th, 31st of March-24, 7th, 13th, 14th, 21st of April-2024. 

    The option for conducting compensatory classes on other public holidays is left to the school management, depending on the local situation. The Compensatory classes also will follow half day schedule as prescribed in para 1 above.

    Therefore, all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers in the State are requested to issue necessary instructions to all Field Officers & Headmasters of all Management Schools including Pvt. un - aided Schools to run Half-a-day Schools w.e.f. 18.03.2024 without fail, as elaborated above.

    Guidelines for Conducting Half Day During Summer 2024

    Further, they are requested to issue the following instructions to all Field Officers and Headmasters of all Management Schools, while running half-a-day Strictly implement the half-a-day school timings as per School academic calendar.
    • 2nd Saturday in the month of April should be counted as working day.
    • Adequate drinking water should be provided in all schools with the support of Gram Panchayat & RWS Department wherever and whenever required.
    • Classes shall not be conducted in the open areas / under the trees etc., under any circumstances.
    • Keep handy some Oral Re-hydration Solution (ORS) sachets in every school for use of Students, in coordination with the Medical & Health Department for use in case if any child affected by Sun / Heat stroke.
    • Provide buttermilk during Mid Day Meals in coordination with local community / Voluntary organizations.
    • Mid-day-meals should be prepared and supplied to the students at the end of school hours and then send students to their homes.
    • Monitor the above measures closely with the Head Masters, Inspecting Officers and other officials and see that all precautions are taken to avoid any hardship to the Students / Teachers.
    • The above instructions shall not affect the schedule already issued for the SA -2 exams scheduled for classes 1 to 9.
