The Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TGTET) January 2026 is a mandatory qualifying examination for candidates aspiring to become teachers in classes I to VIII in Telangana State. Minimum Qualifications for Paper-I (Classes I to V)

Option 1:

  • Academic Qualification: Intermediate/Senior Secondary with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled)
  • Professional Qualification:
    • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), OR
    • 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), OR
    • 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

Option 2 (For candidates admitted before December 23, 2015):

  • Academic Qualification: Intermediate/Senior Secondary with 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled)
  • Professional Qualification: Same as Option 1

Minimum Qualifications for Paper-II (Classes VI to VIII)

Option 1:

  • Academic Qualification: B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled)
  • Professional Qualification: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) / B.Ed (Special Education)

Option 2 (For candidates admitted before December 23, 2015):

  • Academic Qualification: B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. with 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled)
  • Professional Qualification: B.Ed / B.Ed (Special Education)

Option 3:

  • Integrated Course: 4-year B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled)

Option 4 (For Language Teachers):

  • Graduation with language as optional subject, OR
  • Bachelor of Oriental Language, OR
  • Graduation in Literature, OR
  • Post Graduation in concerned language
  • AND Language Pandit Training Certificate / B.Ed with language methodology

Option 5 (For Engineering Graduates):

  • Academic Qualification: B.E/B.Tech with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled)
  • Professional Qualification: B.Ed or B.Ed (Special Education)

Important Notes on Eligibility

✅ Final year students of D.El.Ed, B.Ed, etc., can also apply but cannot appear for Teacher Recruitment Test until completion of the course
✅ Only NCTE-recognized Teacher Education courses are valid (RCI-recognized for Special Education)
✅ Intermediate qualification must be from BIE Telangana or equivalent recognized by BIE Telangana
✅ Bachelor's degree must be from a UGC-recognized university

TET for in-service teachers: 
  • i. All in-service Teachers working in Government, Local Authority and Private (Aided and Unaided) management Schools are permitted to appear for TGTET conducted by the State government or CTET conducted by the Central Government. 
  • ii. Secondary Grade Teachers and LFL Head Masters working in Government and Local Body Schools appointed with both D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. qualification are permitted to appear for Paper I 
  • iii. School Assistants, Language Pandits and Head Masters of High Schools are permitted to appear for Paper II

The exam fee prescribed for appearing for TGTET-January-2026 is Rs. 750.00 (Rupees Seven Hundred and Fifty only) for either only Paper I or only Paper II and Rs.1000 (Rupees One Thousand Only) for those appearing for both Papers I and II.

  • Provide preliminary data:

Step 3: Prepare Required Documents

Before filling the application, prepare:
  • Photograph: Scanned copy in JPEG format, 500 KB
  • Signature: Scanned copy in JPEG format, 100 KB
